FAQ

Q) What is the thickness of the veneer?
A) Architectural doors have a thicker veneer than commodity doors. The veneer thickness can change depending on the veneer specie. Typically the thickness on Birch is about 1/42", the thickness on White Oak is about 3/64.

Q) Can I order a thicker veneer than the standard?
A) Yes under most circumstances. When you change the veneer thickness the manufacturer has to change the core thickness to accommodate the change in the door skin. This will increase the cost and the lead time.

Q) What are the door stiles made of and how thick are they?
A) The stiles are the same specie as the veneer (prime doors will have a hardwood chosen by the manufacturer). Some door species like Birch will use a hardwood that is very close to the veneer specie. In the case of Birch the stile will be Maple. The thickness of the stile will vary based on the core of the door. Typically a particle core door will have a 7/8" thick stile before trimming.
