For 1-3/8" thick sash.

• Vinyl jamb-liners can reduce air infiltration dramatically and increase the efficiency of wood windows by over 60%!
• They are an excellent option when your customer's wood sash are in good shape but balances, pulleys and weatherstripping are not sufficient.
• We can also provide single and double hung custom made jamb liners for 1-3/4" sash - email for quote. These are used primarily for historical renovations.
14 degree sill cut on balance bottom. The bottom of the balance can be trimmed in height and angle by your contractor.
Balance length is 2 x glass height + 6-1/4". Ex: 24" glass height has a balance length to long point of 54-1/4".
Fastening hardware, screws, nails and staples are included on listed products only. Custom balances do not include hardware.
If converting from a non-tilt system your sash will need to be trimmed 1-1/2" in width and plowed on the edges.
Preparing the Sash: this step done by you or your carpenter
1. The sash width needs to be 1-1/2” under the sash opening (measure opening before the balances are installed). Trim as necessary equally from each side.
2. Plow both stiles (edge of the sash) at their centers as 5/8” wide by 3/16” deep. The plow should run the entire length of the sash.
Consult your local building code official for applicable codes and regulations (particularly regarding minimum egress requirements). The installation of a replacement window will not eliminate installation or maintenance problems with an existing window. Problems such as wood decay and water leaks around the existing frame must be investigated and fixed prior to installing replacement balances and/or sashes.
Important Information
• A minimum 3 3/8" wide jamb depth (“opening”) must exist for replacement jamb liners).
• If the existing window sill is not level, or if the existing window is not square and plumb, installation may be complicated and additional trim work may be needed during installation. Consider professional installation assistance.
• If there is more than 1/8" deviation within each set of measurements, investigate the cause and seek professional assistance to correct problems.
• Individually measure each existing window to be replaced. Do not assume similar looking windows are exactly the same size.
• Measure accurately, to the nearest 1/8".
